Isabelle was the sister of King Saint Louis VIII of France and thought it was expected of her to marry another highborn, she declined marriage to the German Emperor in order to found a Poor Clare convent near Paris, France where she lived out her life as a nun. She devoted her entire life to the service of God and Christ and took particular care and time serving the poor.
